Their web site is used to promote members’ work and to generate booking enquiries from teachers, libraries, and other organizations. Like many non-profit or volunteer run organizations that we work with, their site had been on auto-pilot for several years. Twitter and a blog covered current events, and of course members could update their own profiles, but the design, after many years of noble service had to go. CWILL approached ideaLEVER to create a new site with a number of goals: Do a better job of showing off how exciting it is when a writer or illustrator comes to share their passion for stories and literacy with a young audience Promote the benefits of joining for prospective members Allow CWILL members to manage their own profiles Allow teachers and librarians to easily filter members on several criteria to get the best presenter for their audience Integrate the blog and Twitter feeds Make the site mobile friendly Keep the budget reasonable Luckily for CWILL our CMS, SiteCM, has a flexible Membership component that lets us create custom member profiles and listings with categorization and filtering. We took the opportunity to enhance the member listings to include videos and more images to make the site more lively. We also added response forms so that members could tell which enquiries came through the CWILL site. In addition to design and development of the site, we also provided training on SiteCM CMS to ensure that CWILL can update its information and images images to keep the site fresh.
