All you need is a current web browser (Firefox 2.0 or better on the Mac), a user account, and an Internet connection.

With Software as a Service you only pay for the features you need. This reduces the cost of entry and provides you with an easy upgrade path. Licenses start at $500 and go up to over $10,000 depending on your requirements and complexity.

Open source development means that there are lots of features but that does not mean that your developer will be familiar with all of them. What our customers who have switched from open source to SiteCM web content management have told us is that if they want to change developers, or if their developer is no longer available, it is very hard to find another developer to support or upgrade their site. Each developer has their own configurations and features. With SiteCM all customers have a standardized foundation and we have a reseller program and well documented designer manual with CSS reference so any designer can work with it.

Open Source and traditionally licensed CMS’s are installed and configured by your web developer on their web servers. In order to upgrade your site, your developer must download, configure and install the new features. There are no license fees with an open source CMS, but that is offset by the time involved in providing you upgrades and configuring your site. Over time your CMS becomes obsolete and the only choice is to start again from scratch.
