Over twenty years ago, Kidsbooks started as a small idea and has grown over the past decades to be a thriving, exciting environment for children and adults who love reading and great books. Kidsbooks is now the largest and best children's bookstore in Canada if not all of North America. They have three locations in BC's lower mainland a reputation with teachers and parents across the country.
Kidsbooks needed a new eCommerce solution that gave them more control over their catalog and reflected the in store shopping experience.
Using CommerceCM, Kidsbooks can now manage their web marketing, promote events, and give customers access to the recommended titles carefully selected by staff.
The Kidsbooks site lists over 200,000 items from their store database and changes constantly with nightly updates of new and changed listings.
Title profiles are provided by a third party data vendor through a detailed ONIX XML file that gives full bibliographic details on all titles listed in the Kidsbooks store database.
Product profiles from books to puppets, games and crafts, show availability by location. Quantities are updated from each store every evening so customers can pre-shop with confidence before going to a store, or can even order items for pickup at the closest location saving time and shipping costs. Shipping guidelines shown with each title are determined by store and supplier availability.
Kidsbooks adds to all of this sophisticated and automatic data-integration with careful handselling, knowlegable staff, and years of experience. Titles are grouped by industry standard (BISAC) classifications and further sorted by Kidsbooks own classification system based on age groups, or hundreds of other groupings based on over 20 years of selling books to children, parents, and teachers.
Kidsbooks is great example of the flexibility and scalability of CommerceCM and what can be done by a merchant who understands their needs and the desires of their customers.
