Shipping is unique to each eCommerce system we build and we have created a flexible system to accomodate your needs. Some merchants ship per piece, some by dollar value of order, and some use components from major shipping companies like, UPS, FedEx, or Canada Post. No matter how you choose to handle your product shipping, CommerceCMTM has the solutionand we have the experience to help you figure out all of your options
Purdy's Chocolates (visit site) of Vancouver have a heat sensitive product that is relatively easy to ship. They provide North American surface and air shipping and assign shipping prices based on the total value of the order in a series of predetermined price ranges. Internationally, they have created zones and have assigned countries to zones. Each zone has a fixed shipping price. BUT (there is always a but..) they can set a start and end date for summer shipping. During the summer shipping period, North American orders are all shipped air. EXCEPT if the address falls within a region we defined as the Lower Fraser Valley where they are shipped ground using a local courier service. We created a file using all of the Canada Post recognized postal designations in the region where Purdy's can use the local couriere cost effectively.
Another client ships using Canada Post and is using their shipping module. CommerceCMTM includes the ability to enter in all of the information required by the module to accurately calculate the shipping cost on every order. Customers have the chance to select shipping method and are given an estimated delivery date from the Canada Post module. The merchant is guaranteed to never lose money on shipping and to always have the latest data.
Robeez (visit site) charges shipping based on the number of pairs purchased and uses different carriers for Canada, the US, and International orders. Our solution includes a complex shipping rate manager that includes the ability to configure countries and shipping zones. Order data is downloaded for the orders being shipped by FedEx and imported directly into the FedEx system to generate shipping waybills and customs forms.
Finally, another client has several items that do not fit his standard shipping policies. He uses the Shipping Surcharge field in the product manager to assign extra shipping costs to the items. The product display pages highlight the shipping charge and include it in the price of the product in the shopping cart.
No matter what your business needs, we have the solution. CommerceCMTM
