Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music
The Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music opened in 1978. We are a non-profit society, which operates solely on tuition fees, donations and small grants. KISSM is unique in that it provides a high caliber of musical instruction in a fun, relaxed, camp-like atmosphere, attracting students from all over western Canada. KISSM 2009 runs July 6 - 24, 2009.
Perhaps the greatest key to KISSM's success is its wide variety of programs; where a student may be involved in a number of different musical activities. From classical to jazz, acoustic to electronic, beginner to accomplished performer, age seven to seventy, it is available to everyone. There is an extensive list of course options to choose from, so that students can customize the experience most suited to their interests and needs.
Western Canada Theatre
For over 30 years now, Western Canada Theatre has been providing audiences in Kamloops with top notch theatre and since the 2001/2002 season we have been a proud supporter. A quote that David Ross, the Artistic Producer, used for the introduction to the 2002-2003 season sums it all up:
"...Samantha reminded me of that great play The Search For Signs of Intelligent Life In The Universe by Jane Wagner, and Trudy telling us about taking the extra-terrestrials to the theatre:
'Did I tell you what happened at the play? We were at the back of the theatre, standing there in the dark, all of a sudden I feel one of 'em tug my sleeve, whispers, 'Trudy, look.' I said, 'Yeah, goose bumps. You definitely got goose bumps. You really like the play that much?' They said it wasn't the play gave 'em goosebumps, it was the audience. I forgot to tell 'em to watch the play; they'd been watching the audience! Yeah - to see a group of strangers sitting together in the dark, laughing and crying about the same things... that just knocked 'em out. They said, 'Trudy, the play was soup... the audience... art'
Kamloops Festival of the Performing Arts

Each February and March hundreds of young performers are able to show their skills to adjudicators that help guide them on their way to mastering their art.
