The Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT) is a small, high-quality college that offers innovative, relevant credentials for future First Nations leaders in the fields of Wellness, Governance, Land, and Economic Development.  NVIT is located in Merritt, British Columbia.

The Challenge

NVIT wanted a web site that offered detailed information to its students in a professional format that was easy to navigate.  With more than 200 courses offered and a constantly changing selection, NVIT needed a tool to manage this vast amount of information.  And, they needed the information to be consistent in all sources – on the web site, in the course calendar, and in information faxed and e-mailed from the College.

The SiteCM^TM Solution

SiteCM^TM Education is the tool created for NVIT.  They were the first college to use the tool and now others are lining up to get on board.

The site works like a database, holding course outlines and detailed academic information.  Course information is entered into the database and is automatically formatted and posted on the web site. Consistent information between the web site and calendar minimizes confusion and maximizes professionalism.

A visitor to the site can easily navigate through all the information that they need – how to register, financial aid, and continuing education programs.  NVIT Students can use the site to find everything from information on spiritual counselling available on campus to a book in the on-line library catalogue.

• Despite having just 230 students and 21 instructors, NVIT is making national headlines for its leadership -- nominated for a Canadian E-Business Leadership Award, recognizing “the successful implementation of e-business tools and techniques”.
  
  
• With SiteCM^TM Education, the right person for the job does the job.  The site is organized into categories by job description.  So, for example, the Human Resources manager updates the HR component of the web site using a designated password.  This means information is more accurate and can be posted faster.  And, the college doesn’t need a web master.
  
  
• The web site has a built-in policy manager that sends the additions to the communications department for review before they are posted live on the web site.  This ensures consistency and quality.
